PHOTOS BY DAVID SHOENFELT MOSS STANLEY born and raised outside of London, England discovered at a young age, his musical talents. It was when his older sister began struggling through piano lessons that Moss ventured right to the piano and effortlessly played what he heard. From then on Moss nurtured his natural talents and at the age of 19, moved to the United States. With just a few articles of clothing, no formal training and his magical fingers, he began his new life as a musician. It was in the early 1980's that he formed one of the city's top society bands, "Nitebridge" which he still leads, performing for audiences in clubs/bars, weddings, bat/bar mitzvahs and benefits. Moss has been musical director for broadway musicals and has performed with the likes of Martha Reeves, Spyro Gyra, Chuck Berry, Blood Sweat & Tears and Robert Lockwood Jr. PETER DELL Starting at the advanced age of 27, Pete bought his first drum set. His first band was Moko Bovo [1988 -1994], a ground breaking blues/funk/jump band with a rabid fan base and 2 CD releases. The band set trends in Cleveland with their unique blend of blues, swing and original funk songs, frequently opening for national acts passing through Cleveland. In 1994 and 1995 he was recruited into The Five Believers, an acoustic blues trio, in which he was the sound colorist/percussionist. He recorded 2 full-length releases with them. From 1995-97 he set the tempo with ExCats, an all-original rock band, which released 2 CDs during his tenure, and gigged extensively in the Cleveland area. His next musical project was The Raymond Carver Poetry project, a culmination of 5 years of writing and rehearsing original music to accompany readings of the American writer’s masterpieces. The format was a 7 piece band, plus string quartet. Pete was one of 2 percussionists, covering trap set, hand percussion and tuned beer bottles. The CD release was praised by the author’s widow, and 2 performances were given. From 1997-2001, Pete concentrated on playing straight-ahead jazz 3 nights a week in the acclaimed trio Jack My Dog, who released a CD, and played extensively to a loyal fan base. Since 2001, he has played regularly in a variety of bands and settings, including Nitebridge, Lounge Kitty, Funk In A Box, and the Moss Stanley Trio. During this time Pete has been honored to play The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum twice, and the House of Blues twice, once for the cast and crew of Spiderman 3. Lounge Kitty and the Moss Stanley trio were both featured on Fox TV8 morning news/variety program in 2006, with Pete behind the drums.
